iOS 10 Update - Best New Features

iOS 10 update comes with lot of new features. Lets see each one in detail.

Handy button to check all unread emails
There is a button on the bottom left of the Mail app in iOS 10 that lets you quickly check all unread emails. Also long press of the button leads to other filters. And also one more button added i.e unsubscribe which lets you to unsubscribe by tapping it from annoyed newsletters, etc.

Get back to the old home button
The new unlock feature in iOS 10 where  the user has to press the home button to unlock the device works very well with the latest releases of  Apple i.e., iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus(which has a touch model button but actually it is not a button). Coming to the older devices this feature is less convenient. To restore the old home button: Settings > General > Accessibility > Home Button > turn on Rest Finger to Open

Hide photo albums
Photos app in iOS 10 has a very impressive feature, it identifies people and groups all the photos they are in. And if you want to hide someone’s pics just open the People album and tap Select on the top right and now select the pics you want to hide and tap the Hide on the bottom left.

Contact name predictions
While sending  iMessage or text from email address or a number which is not in your address book, iOS 10 tries to predict who they are.

Assign default numbers, email address for contacts
In the Contacts app, if you open any contact, you will see four blue icons-  Text, Call, FaceTime, and Email. For example if any contact has more than one phone number or email address you can pick a default. To do that tap and hold those icons. After picking the default if you tap any of these icons it will directly mail, call or message the default contact number or email address you assigned.

Draw anything on photos
If you want to add any text or draw something funny on any photo iOS 10 has a feature called Markup.  Open any picture in the Photos app > tap the settings icon (next to the trash icon) > tap the three dots icon on the top left > tap Markup. Same feature available in iMessage. Tap the right arrow on the bottom left. This reveals the camera icon, so tap that. Now tap and hold any photo and then tap the Markup button on the bottom-left.

Close multiple tabs at once in Safari
To close the multiple tabs open in the Safari browser simply tap and hold the tab button on the bottom right then you will get an option in red to close all tabs at once.

Uninstall pre-loaded apps
Annoyed with the unwanted pre-installed apps such as Weather, Mail, Stocks? Now you can rid of them easily by deleting them like others apps you delete, But the thing is these apps are not really uninstalled from the system, only the icon is hidden. It means we won’t gain any storage space.

Disable read receipts
Not interested to send read receipts on iMessage, simply tap the i icon on the top right of any conversation and disable the send read receipts.

Recent badge in call logs
Suppose if some contact has multiple numbers and you forget the number which you want to call them on.  Tap the i button which is next to the contact then you see a Recent badge you have called recently to that number.

Decrease data consumption on iMessage
If you face a slow internet connection situation you can now send compressed images via iMessage. Go to Settings > Messages, scroll to the bottom and enable Low quality Image Mode.

No limit on tabs in Safari
On iOS 10 you can open unlimited tabs in Safari which there is limit of 36 tabs on iOS 9

Optimise Storage to save space on Apple Music & Automatic Downloads
This feature in iOS 10 automatically removes the songs you haven’t played much to free up the storage space. Go to Settings > Music > enable Optimise Storage. Other feature is Automatic Downloads- When you add songs to your library, Apple Music will automatically download those songs. Just go to Settings > Music > turn on Automatic Downloads.

Improved Dial Assist
Go to Settings > Phone > turn on Dial Assist. Now if you get any call from landline numbers, iOS 10 shows you which city and state the number belongs to.

Bedtime
There is a new feature in Clock app in iOS 10 which is Bedtime. With this feature you can set a sleep and wake up time. It reminds your sleep on time and wakes you up with relaxing music.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Vs Apple iPad Mini

The tablet market is witnessing no dearth of competition these days. Two of the most watched out for rivals are corporate giants Apple and Samsung. The two manufactures are fighting hard to capture a larger market share that the other. Moreover, the two companies manufacture only quality products. This makes it all the more difficult to decide which one is the better of the two.

Talking of tablets, Apple has launched Apple iPad Mini while Samsung unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) this year. In terms of quality, specifications and features the two are good and they stand shoulder to shoulder in competition with each other. However, we decided to compare the two slates. When we put them along side each other, here’s what we found.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Vs. Apple iPad Mini
To begin with Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 looks like it is the Note 2’s clone. Note 8.0 slate is Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with a screen size of 8-inches. Some share the opinion that in terms of its size, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 resembled the iPad Mini. The truth however is that the Note 8.0 looks like a smaller iPad Mini.

The body of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 makes it look and feel like a premium gadget. Plastic has been used to make this device. The curved corners and its glossy finish gives this gadget a neat look. However, this device weighs heavier than the iPad Mini. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 weighs about 338 grams or 11.9 ounce. This device comes with a screen resolution of 1280 * 800. Higher the pixel density means images will be noticeably sharper. We tested the screen of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 and we noticed that the screen provided an excellent view from almost any viewing angle. One thing that the screen lacks is Super AMOLED display. You can use the S Pen to write on the screen of this device. This device being as slim as just 8mm and this makes it comfortably slip into a bag.

In terms of performance Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is top class. The speed of this device is impressive. Thanks to the 1.6GHz quad-core processor that powers this device. This device also comes with features like radios for WiFi a/b/g/n, GB RAM, A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and an internal storage capacity of up to 32GB. However, storage capacity of this device can be expanded using a microSD expansion. This device runs on a powerful 4,600mAh battery.

All in all Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is one of the perfect competitors for the iPad Mini.  Here’s a closer look at the specifications and features of the latter.

In terms of design, build and physical appearance iPad Mini wins the race hands-down. Thanks to the high-quality materials that are used in its making. This is a premium product by all means. iPad Mini is as light as just 10.8 ounce and is as thin as just 7.2mm. This goes to say that it is half the weight of the regular iPad. It is impossible to hold this tablet without letting your fingers touch the screen. Apple had foreseen this and to avoid accidents of any kind the company had developed the ‘resist thumb recognition’ technology. Screen resolution of iPad Mini is 1,024 x 768. Users only wished that the iPad Mini came with better sharpness.

iPad Mini is simply superb in terms of its performance. Thanks to the 1GHz A5 processor that this device runs on. This device has been updated to the 6.1 version of iOS. Apple’s virtual assistance Siri can be accessed on this device. iPad Mini comes with wireless networking support and Bluetooth option. There is a 3.5mm audio connector that is situated on the top of this device.

If you are passionate about photography, do not expect too much from the iPad Mini’s camera. This device comes packed with a 5MP iSight camera at the rear. This camera comes with advanced features like backside illumination that improves the quality of images that you take. However, this camera comes minus features like HDR mode and flash. iPad Mini also comes with a 1.2MP FaceTime camera.  You can own an iPad Mini with a storage capacity of 16, 32 or 64GB. Storage capacity of this device is non-expandable.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 and iPad Mini come packed with all the features that you to have on your tablet. Nevertheless, it is difficult to come to a conclusion about which is the best of the two.

What To Expect With iOS 6

It has recently been announced that the new iOS 6 from Apple will soon come to fruition. As most tech geeks and fans out there already now, Apple has consistently been a game changer, and the expectations are pretty high for the new iOS 6 system. In essence, it is expected to be the most technologically advanced operation system of its kind to date, which is saying a lot. It will be even more interesting to see what comes from the new iOS 6 when considering the death of Steve Jobs, who is largely considered the mastermind behind Apple’s dominance in the marketplace. On top of that, Apple is infamously hush hush about their new technologies, which makes it even more intriguing to see what they are going to pull out of their hat with this one.

But, that has not stopped many people from making assumptions about what Apple has to offer. Likely, most of these will be included in the new Apple iOS 6, and even more likely, there will be some features that no one expected. The only thing you can bank on for sure, is that when it comes to Apple and their OS, always expect the unexpected.

iOS 6 possibility #1. More Facebook integration
Now that Facebook is a publicly traded company, most people assume that it will only get bigger and better- although, that is far from conclusive and very open to debate. But, it would make sense that Apple would further integrate their iOS 6 system into Facebook, which would encourage more cross-over work, and in the end, more user friendliness for the consumer (who is very likely to use Facebook on a daily, if not hourly, basis.) Rumors from current Apple CEO, Tim Cook, seem to hint that this will be the case. What specific type of integrations are not known, but like I said earlier, expect the unexpected from Apple.

iOS 6 possibility #2. 3D Maps
Indeed, we are entering a world in which 3D technology will seemingly be everywhere- from the living room to the movie theater. Thus, it makes sense that Apple would get on board- especially before anyone would beat them to it. Google Maps has already been there and done that, but expect Apple to up the ante with much more comprehensive 3D maps, and more interactive for the user as well.

iOS possibility #3. Here comes Siri
The mobile app, Siri, has already caught the world by storm, and is only getting more and more popular. So, in order to capitalize on this, Apple is expected to bring the Siri app to iPad for the first time. There are some security issues with the Siri app, but expect Apple to sidestep those issues, and to bring Siri to life on iPads all across the country with the new operating system.

Word Suggestion Toolbar For iOS 5

Here's how to activate the word suggestion toolbar:
  •  Plug your iPhone into your computer and right click it within iTunes. Select "Backup."
  • While your iPhone's backing up, download and install iBackupBot, an app that lets you easily modify iOS files.
  • Once the backup is complete and the app is installed, launch the app and pick the backup you just created.
  • Open the LIbrary folder, then the Preferences folder, and then find com.apple.keyboard.plist.
  • Double click the file, and click "Cancel" if iBackupBot asks you to register.
  • Copy and paste <key>KeyboardAutocorrectionLists</key><string>YES</string> in to the end of the file. Save the file.
  • Within iBackupBot, restore your iPhone from the most recent backup you made a few minutes ago.
  • When your iPhone restores, it should be the same as before, but with a new word helper toolbar!
