10 types of backlinks that Google doesn't like

Google has a lot of rules and guidelines which it has set up in order to stop people from manipulating their search engine. Here are ten links that Google does not like because the programmers feel that they are trying to manipulate the search engine in some way.

1. Optimized links within forum comments
In other words, if you are using a spam bot in order to install links onto forum comment sections then Google is not going to appreciate it.

2. Text ads are not welcomed
There is a thin line between anchor text that promotes the page it lands on and an advert. The thin line is also blurry, so you simply have to stay away from the obvious text based adverts such as, “Get 3 for 2 right here.” If you install such anchor text on another website then you need to make sure the link is not followed.

3. A wide distribution of footer backlinks
This is a marketing technique that some SEO companies have used and now Google have had enough of it. Putting your link into the footer of too many websites is going to land you with a Google penalization.

4. Google is not keen on paid links
This is one of those rules that has a few shades of grey, and these are not the shades of grey that involve a man’s tie. These are shades of grey where some paid links are seemingly okay.

The first thing you should consider is that even if something is only offered free for the links, such as a free account or free use of a tool, then that is still considered to be a paid link. However, if you were to contact a person and offer to pay them money to put a link on their website, then there is no way that Google would know. Also, links from legitimate directories are also paid links and yet they are permissible.

5. Over optimized anchor text
This is also a blurrily defined rule, but basically if your anchor text looks like a bunch of loosely strung together keywords then Google is not going to like the link.

6. Links from low quality social bookmarking sites
There are some bookmarking websites that Google likes and others that it does not. There are some that are set up just to increase the SEO value of its featured websites. Google does not like links of this nature.

7. A large and obvious guest posting or article campaign
This one is tricky because it is possible to post quite a few articles and guest posts at one time and have nothing but good things as a result. The word “obvious” is the most relevant. If it is “obvious” that you have just gone around posting guest posts and articles with abandon, then Google will lower the relevance of those links.

They will figure out that is it all your doing and so will not pay as much attention to the links. The exact science of how this decision is made and why is unclear. Quite a few people launch big article marketing campaigns and rise up the search engine results pages because of it and other do what seems to be the same thing and receive little SEO benefit.

8. Picture adverts are not well loved
Some people still do not know this one, but if you have a followed link on a picture advert then Google takes a dim view of it and either ignores it or lowers your search engine position because of it. If you put a link into an advert/image-advert then you have to make it a no-follow link otherwise Google gets snippy.

9. Automatic programs are not Google friendly
Google is well known for not liking tools that automatically create links for you. They are a form of link spamming and Google has done a lot in previous years to make link spamming something to be forgotten. Google is aware of how they work and is well up on recognizing when they have been used. It is simply better to avoid using them altogether if you want a more successful SEO campaign.

10. Excessive link exchanges
Google is able to pick up on these in two ways. Firstly, they monitor the websites and companies that try to set up link exchanges so that they may disregard the SEO work of their customers. The second way is through monitoring the actions of people linking. If people are partaking of link exchanges then it is pretty difficult to tell, but if it happens “excessively” then Google can pick up on it right away.

How Marketing Has Changed And What You Need To Do Differently

During the last several years, the most effective marketing strategies have changed significantly. By using a combination of the most effective Internet marketing strategies in 2013, a website owner can quickly drive a large amount of traffic to any website and increase the conversion rates that the website generates.

Social Media Networks
During the last several years, the popularity of many social media networks grew rapidly, and now, millions of people log onto the social media networks each day.

In order to drive a large amount of traffic to a website, website owners create detail profiles on the networks, pay for traffic from the networks, consistently update their status and tweet.

Article Directories
Before Google's algorithm updates, which are called Penguin and Panda, many website owners used article directories to market a website. A website owner could add many low quality and similar articles, which included several links to their website, to various article directories in order to generate a large amount of traffic.

Now, the authority of article directories has been lowered significantly.

Instead of using the article directories, a website owner should consistently post high quality content on their own website.

Local Keyword Phrases
In the past, website owners mainly targeted keyword phrases that were used nationally and internationally, but now, website owners are focusing on local keyword phrases.

Local SEO services provides are helping website owners to target certain geographical areas, and a local SEO report will show the number of people who search for particular keyword phrases in a certain area.

Keyword Stuffing
Before Penguin and Panda, website owners would post articles that had keyword densities of between five percent and seven percent.

Since the algorithm updates, Google has penalized websites that have articles that are stuffed with keywords, and now, articles with keyword densities that are between one percent and two percent rank very high in the search engines for these keywords.

High Quality Backlinks
Website owners used to be able to drive a website to the top of the rankings of the search engines by establishing many backlinks on low quality webpages, and many website owners paid for links.

Now, Google will penalize a website if Google suspects that the website has backlinks that have been paid for, and backlinks that are established on a website with a high pagerank are much more authoritative and valuable.

The best marketing strategies have changed greatly during the last several years. Now, some of the most effective strategies include social media optimization, consistently posting high quality content, focusing on local keyword phrases, posting articles that have a keyword density of around two percent and establishing high quality backlinks.

How To Create Software Directory Backlinks

Try and get at least 10 software directory back-links. You would need to use Abbot for this purpose at this stage, if you wish to automate the whole task of .EXE creation and submission (which I highly recommend). This will give a major boost to your link diversity.

Spun Articles
Exactly 15 spun articles (exactly the same as last week) need to be submitted to ANY 15 article directories (you can repeat a few here and there now – no need to post to different ones). As previously, you can use Article Marketing Robot to automate the process.

.EDU and .GOV backlinks
Try and get at least 15 of these links from this week onwards – and this case, do not repeat the blogs/sites from which you are getting your back-links (Fiverr option is still viable if you need to save time).

Blog commenting backlinks
Similar to .EDU and .GOV, try and get at least 15 of these links from this week onwards – and this case, do not repeat the blogs/sites from which you are getting your back-links (Fiverr option is still viable if you need to save time).

Document creation and submission/Web 2.0
Using the exact same method as last week, either create and submit more than 2 documents to all the sites left over (15) from the last week or create a third tier of 15 more Web 2.0 links (internal linking)

Indexing!
Yep – the same as usual. Get the links indexed using Linklicious.me

So just a word – this is where we have really stepped it up to the next level. If you have been attempting all this while to rank an affiliate site which you created for a low competition keyword, chances are that you are going to probably start getting some amount of visitors to your site. So it is basically time to start celebrating a bit.

Also, the main goal of Week 5 is to meander towards a good back-link blueprint which we can diligently follow to get our website up in the big G’s results. Moreover, the fact that you have actually implemented diverse back-linking techniques over several weeks should have also given you a great deal of confidence of future link-building.
